David

A huge thank you to you, your team and all involved in putting this series together.

I thoroughly enjoyed the series, being new to running each race was a new experience for me, my only previous taste being the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run 10K in May this year. Your organization was excellent, the support from marshals and the general public (special praise must be given to Helensburgh – they really did well with the support and atmosphere) was fantastic.
Thanks to the encouragement along the way I have managed to set 3 personal bests out of the 4 races – leaves an extra challenge for next year!

Best wishes for the year, please pass on my thanks to all those involved.

Hi David,

I would just like to say well done to another great successful milestone achievement with this year’s race series especially since the Vale was the Scottish 10K Championships. The organisation at all races was great, marshalling and support from the same spot on, £36.00 to run 4 local races in a month with a great Tee Shirt and other goodies and well the weather.

I think this is the first time in several years where it was dry on each race day and I guess I am one of the moaners for Sunday being a bit too hot. I thought you could have organised a light shower half way through the race but then others might have complained.

Lomond Shores also does us proud with the use of the facilities in Jenners which is great and I hope we generated some additional income for them. I note there is a lack of feedback from 2008 so please runners use this forum to pass your impression. Here is looking forward to 2010 and the continued support from our local athletics clubs and sponsors.

Hi There,

A great series of races which I have taken part a few times in over the years. Very well organised and everyone is really friendly at the events. Hadn't did much racing over the last year due to injury so thought this series would be an enjoyable return to racing but aarrhh no entry on the day and champion chips, what happened to the good old turn up race?

Hi David,

Just wanted to say a HUGE Thank you for a fabulous series. I really, really enjoyed myself and even managed to get new PB's! Everyone was really friendly and helpful, the medals were great and the routes were superb. The t-shirt is definately the most wearable I've received so far and he sunglasses were a great bonus. I know that it must take a huge amount of organisation so please pass on my thanks to all involved. I'll definately be there next year.

One tiny little suggestion would be to maybe get a clearer starting line. Starting at the back, I time myself and wasn't sure when to start my watch! That aside it was a very enjoyable series. Thank you very much. Hope you can now get a break before the organisation for the next one starts!

Take care, Karen Kelly

"Ran" the Helensburgh 10K last night - kind of enjoyable! It was my first event since the series in 1988!! Pity there are no results still held for them. Received a lovely mug at the Vale event - I still use it every day at my work!

Just make sure all you speedy runners don't drink all the water at Loch Lomond this year - leave some for the slow coaches!

This was my first attempt at the full series this year and it was great. I'm also going to be running the Helensbrugh Half in August as well.

Have you any ideas when the picture gallery will be updated with this years photos?

I ran Clydebank, Dumbarton and Vale of Leven 10ks and my time got better each race. I enjoyed VoL especially since I was born there and the course ran past my gran's house in Bonhill! Wondered when the results are being put on the website so I can download the proof that I really was there!

Well done. The VoL 10k was the best ever. Using the attraction of Lomond Shores really works with excellent parking and toilet facilities - we probably need to provide some changing facilities for those who travel in from afar. Well done to all involved in what has appeared to be a successful series.

Don't forget for all the new runners out there, there are plenty of running clubs in the area with Helensburgh meeting in their own clubhouse in the grounds of Hermitage Academy every Tuesday and Thursday night at 1930 (changing and showers available along with a welcome cup of tea after your run!). For those wanting to go further the Helensburgh Half Marathon is on 3 Aug at 0930 from Helensburgh Pier (pre enter via Runners World or entries on the day in the East Clyde St Centre). See you there.

I'm doing my first Polaroid series this year and thoroughly enjoying it. It's a great social scene and keeps you fit at the same time! Now I just want to go faster and faster. Here's hoping!!

Can I also suggest that anyone who participated in the Series, and who seek to continue training, join one of the local clubs or jogging groups. If you think a running club is too big a step (it isn't!) try JogScotland. We meet at three venues Dumbarton Meadow Centre Monday, Dumbarton Posties Park Tuesday and Alexandria CEC Main St, on Wednesdays. For further details see local press, Contact Alan Crawford at West Dunbartonshire Sports Development (01389 737093) or come along to the 5k at Lomond shores immediately after the 10k on 22nd June.

My 1st Polaroid 10k yesterday at Dumbarton and really enjoyed it, weather, organisation and atmosphere good and other competitors 2nd to none . The only issue i had was for a beginner like me clearer Km markers would have been helpful. Going for all4 next year !!!!!

To all those local people running in the Polaroid 10k series for the first time in 2003 "would you like to do even better next year"? If so, why not contact The Milburn Harriers running club at Alexandria. The club is for all ages and any level of runner. It meets at 6pm every Tuesday and Thursday at the Alexandria Community Centre.

Many thanks to the organisers of the Polaroid 10k series from all at the Milburn Harriers AAC,

Tony McConnell
